The IFBB California Pro Figure Championships take center stage this weekend in Culver City, California. Sixteen competitors will take the stage, with only one – Jamie DeBernard – having qualified for the 2012 Figure Olympia.
DeBernard, who qualified for the Olympia by placing 3rd at the 2011 Houston Pro – before the new Olympia Qualification Series was implemented – has competed in a whopping seven contests since earning her pro card at last year’s NPC USAs. Aside from last year’s Olympia, she’s placed in the top five every time. This year, she’s getting closer and closer to win No. 1, placing 4th at the Governor’s Cup in March, 3rd at the Pittsburgh Pro and, most recently, 2nd at the Optimum Classic.
Allison Frahn, Kristi Tauti, Natalie Waples and Kimberly Sheppard should also be fighting for spots in the top five.
